What has been the most rewarding moment during your time on the school board so far?

The most rewarding aspect of my time on the school board has been seeing our schools continue to improve despite limited funding. We work hard to make the best use of the resources we have in order to expand student opportunities. It is exciting to see our kids involved in new career and technical programs as well as advanced academic courses. That progress and growth, even with financial challenges, drives our ongoing efforts to provide our schools with what they truly need.

What is one priority you are especially passionate about right now?

One priority I am especially passionate about right now is responsibly planning and budgeting for a football program at Doyle High School. We are starting from the ground up by identifying projected costs, evaluating funding options, and determining what resources are realistically available. We are also working with an architect to develop preliminary blueprints which will help define the financial scope of the project. The goal is to move forward in a fiscally responsible way while creating new opportunities for our students.

What do you enjoy most about interacting with students, staff, and the community?

What I enjoy most about interacting with students, staff, and the community is having meaningful conversations and hearing both positive and negative feedback about our schools. Honest communication helps us identify areas that need improvement and fix what isn’t working. At the same time, hearing positive feedback lets us know what we are doing right and where our efforts are making a difference.

What leadership value guides you when making difficult decisions?

When making difficult decisions, I am guided by what is best for the students. Every decision I make comes back to why I serve on this board—to do what is right for our kids. Keeping students at the center of every decision provides clarity, even when choices are challenging.
