Lesson Contents: Science Content Standards: Grade Level:
    The lesson will be directed to the sixth grade level but can be used with modifications for higher or lower grade levels.
Activities:
    All activities involve using the internet to obtain data. Students will maintain a weather journal (with pencil and paper or electronically) which will contain the following assignments:
    Section One: What is Weather
      Task One: Daily Weather Watch Chart
    Section Two: Heating the Earth
      Task Two: Write a paragraph discussing weather proverbs.
    Section Three: Wind
      Task Three: Construct and use a weather vane. Write a paragraph including observations and discussion.
    Section Four: Air Pressure
      Task Four: Construct a barometer. Write a paragraph comparing your barometer and an aneroid barometer.  Include how technology affects forecasting.
    Section Five: Moisture in the Air
      Task Five: Cloud Forecasting Chart, Cloud Observation Form
    Section Six: Weather Patterns
      Task Six: Answer 3 Questions
    Section Seven: Predicting Weather
      Task Seven: Answer 6 Questions
    Culminating Activity: Final Report

Purpose of Lesson:
    The  purpose of this Web site is to present a technology based lesson on weather.
    The site will be of interest to students and teachers.  The content is based on the text book used by Livingston Parish at the Sixth Grade level, Exploring Earth's Weather by Prentice Hall.
