To find the ip address of the Computer

The Help Desk person may attempt to resolve an issue by remotely accessing your computer. This can only be done if the Firewall is turned off and VNC is installed on your computer. The Helpdesk person will need your ip address.

If VNC is installed on your computer you will have an icon on your tool bar.  Look in the tool bar where the time and date are located in the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen.

In that area you will see a little white box with green and black letters,

or a white box with a red cross.

If you put your mouse pointer over the box you will see a little window with this "WinVNC- 10.123.123.123".

Those numbers (which are unique to that computer) are the ip address. With those numbers the helpdesk will be to control your pc from the office and resolve some problems.

This will only work if the computer is on and the firewall is off.

If VNC is not installed on your computer ask your technology coordinator to install it for you.
