Create a Graph Using Excel 

Subject Area: Any
Grade Level: Any

Example: Pets

Instructions:

1) Open Excel

2) Type information in the cells by clicking in the cell.

3) Put type of pets (dog, cat, bird, fish, other) in cells at the top of each column.

4) Put the number of pets in the cells under the type.

5) Highlight the cells with information in them.

6) Click on the tool for creating a floating chart.  It looks like a bar graph. The tool will be indented.

7) Click beneath the highlighted cells with the mouse pointer that now looks like the floating chart tool.

8) A new floating chart tool (with a drop down arrow) will appear on the left side of the tool bar. Click on the drop down arrow.

9) Click on the chart type you want.

10) Add Titles by clicking on the graph once and a new menu item (Charts) will appear. Click on Charts and then click on Titles.

11) Insert Graphic by clicking on Insert and then Graphics, then From File, find your graphic and click insert.

12) Right click on the graphic, choose object order, send to back, to make your graphic a background for the chart
