Teacher Tuition Exemption Information

This information is intended for LPPS teachers who are planning to attend SLU and other state universities for the  2008 summer and fall semester. The applications are due on or before April 25th before noon to Cindy Neal or Dawn Rush at the LPPS Central Office in Livingston.

DEADLINE FOR SUMMER APPLICATION: April 25, 2008

 

Procedure for applying for Tuition Exemption:
  1. Applicants must be employed as a teacher by the Livingston Parish School Board and under contract for the semester they are applying for exemption.

  2. Teachers that are taking courses to become highly qualified, certified, or to enhance their knowledge of the subject they teach will be given top priority. All other applicants may submit a form for review to determine approval.

  3. The Tuition Exemption Application Form must be completed and submitted to Cindy Neal, Suzanne McDaniel or Dawn Rush at the LPSB central office before the specified deadline for each semester.

  4. The tuition exemption application must be filled out completely by the applicant and signed by the principal.

  5. The Teacher Tuition Exemption Receivable Form must be filled out completely and signed by the applicant. (Southeastern Louisiana University students only)

IMPORTANT:

  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to deliver the forms directly to Cindy Neal, Suzanne McDaniel or Dawn Rush at the LPSB central office before the specified deadline.

  • Forms should not be left at the front desk or with anyone else at the central office.

  • Placement on the parish delivery truck does not ensure delivery to the program director.

  • Forms must be completed in order to be given consideration for funding--Incomplete forms will returned to applicant.

DEADLINE FOR SPRING APPLICATION: November 14, 2007

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Southeastern Louisiana University

  1. Complete the TTE Receivable Form and the Teacher Tuition Exemption Application.

  2. Return to Cindy Neal, Suzanne McDaniel or Dawn Rush at the LPSB central office before the specified deadline.

  3. Leave the line for the controller's office blank.

  4. LPSB personnel will be responsible for delivery to SLU.

All Other Universities

  1. Applicants must complete the Teacher Tuition Exemption Application by the specified deadline to receive reimbursement.

  2. Students must pay tuition directly to the university.

  3. Upon completion of the class, submit your official grade to Cindy Neal for reimbursement.

A. Seeking Standard Certification: Self-Explanatory

B. Seeking Highly-Qualified under NCLB: Self-Explanatory

C. Alternative Certification Program Participant: Self-Explanatory

D. Shortage Areas: This area includes Special Education, ESL, Foreign Language, Science and Math

E. Relicensure: Level II teachers must have 150 CLU’s every 5 years

F. Education Leader 1: Principalship/Supervision

G. Teacher Leader Endorsement: Courses needed to become an educational leader in the school
