Mock Fatality Held At Albany High

On Wednesday, November 2 at 10:00 a.m. a mock fatality was held at Albany High School.  The Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing (graduating seniors) coordinated this realistic depiction of an alcohol related car crash.  Four Albany High School students represented the victims of the accident.  Parents, teacher and faculty assisted.

The Albany Police and Fire Department, Livingston Parish Sheriff and Coroner, Geisler Funeral Home, Sykes Wrecking, Acadian Ambulance/Air Med and Louisiana State Troopers were involved.

Students were also given the opportunity to experiment with the “Drunk Busters Goggles” which simulate  (BAC) Blood Alcohol Concentration effects of impairment, including reduced alertness, slowed reaction time, confusion, visual distortion, poor judgment and more!

Everyone involved learned that the most important lesson was –“Take no chances, never drink and drive or ride in a vehicle with anyone who has consumed alcohol.”  It’s a lesson for a lifetime!
