Livingston Parish Honors Students of the Year

         

            LIVINGSTON, La. – The Livingston Parish Public School System recently honored it 2009-2010 Student of the Year winners throughout the parish with a special celebration reception Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Special Education Auditorium in Livingston.

The celebration honored the winners in grades 5, 8 and 12 from every school in the parish, as well as the top three winners who advanced to the state’s regional competition on behalf of the parish. The annual competition is sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Education.

The parish’s top winners included Jacob Barthelemy, a fifth grader at Doyle Elementary; Catherine Rutherford, an eighth grader at Live Oak Middle School; and Amanda Arceneaux, a senior at Albany High School.  These top students also were presented with plaques during Thursday’s school board meeting.

“We are very proud of all our outstanding students who were selected as the top students at their respective schools.  Our administrative staff reviewed the portfolios for these students and they are all quite remarkable and great ambassadors for our parish.  We anticipate hearing great things about their accomplishments for years to come,” Superintendent Bill Spear said.

The parish’s fifth grade Student of the Year winners include Jessica Litolff, Albany Middle; Victoria Wilson, Denham Springs Elementary; Jacob Barthelemy, Doyle Elementary; Gabrielle Stafford, Eastside Elementary; Madison Averett, French Settlement Elementary; Jordan Long, Freshwater Elementary; April Sigrest, Frost Elementary; Alyssa Lingle, Grays Creek Elementary; Eric Forbes, Holden; Evan Bergeron, Levi Milton Elementary; Caroline Taylor, Lewis Vincent Elementary; Isaac Glaser, Live Oak Elementary; Victoria Bovia, Maurepas; Cameron Cade Hood, North Corbin Elementary; Madelyne Taylor, North Live Oak Elementary; Cameron Crochet, Northside Elementary; Christian Middlebrook, Seventh Ward Elementary; Victoria Rittell, South Live Oak Elementary; Jennifer Kingsbury, South Walker Elementary; Matthew Guzzardo, Southside Elementary; Nicholas Grace, Springfield Middle; Anna Brumfield, Walker Elementary.

The parish’s eighth grade Student of the Year winners are Matthew Spano, Albany Middle; Emily Braun, Denham Springs Junior High; Mallorie Sanders, Doyle High; Samuel Taylor, Frost Elementary; Shelbi Spier, Holden; Catherine Rutherford, Live Oak Middle; Courtney Adkins, Maurepas; Heidi Spring, North Corbin Junior High; David Wale, Southside Junior High; Zachary Clark, Springfield Middle; and Kali Taylor, Westside Junior High.

The parish’s twelfth grade Student of the Year winners are Amanda Arceneaux, Albany High; Ashleigh Eaves, Denham Springs High; Kacie Sommerfield, Doyle High; Laura Blount, Holden; Meghan Bilski, Live Oak High; Sydney Michael Bruce, Maurepas; Brandon Kenyon, Springfield High; Aimee Sibley, Walker High.

Walker Freshman High School also honored its top student, Mikayla Anderson.
