School Officials Cut Ribbons on New Juban Parc Schools;

Parents Invited to Preview Elementary Campus

            DENHAM SPRINGS, La. – Parents and students who will attend the new Juban Parc Elementary School next school year are invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the school on July 27 at 6:30 p.m., followed by a special preview visit of the campus.

            The elementary school event will be held in the school’s multi-purpose building, following the ribbon cutting ceremony for Juban Parc Junior High, which will be held outside, in front of that school at 5:30 p.m.  Parents and students attending the new junior high school were given a “sneak preview” of that campus last month.

            Both schools are located on Brown Road, about one and a half miles east of the Juban Road intersection and near the newly developed Juban Parc Community subdivision.  The property for the two schools, approximately 41 acres, was donated to the school system by Renaissance Development Group, LLC, developer of the Juban Parc Community subdivision.

            Voters in the Denham Springs School District approved a $26 million bond issue in May 2007 to fund the construction of the two schools and make necessary repairs to existing schools in the area.

Visitors wishing to attend the elementary school ceremony should park in the elementary school parking lot.  Those wishing to attend the ribbon cutting ceremonies at both schools may park at either school and walk to and from both schools, or park at the junior high and ride a school bus that will transport guests from the 5:30 p.m. ceremony to the elementary school for the 6:30 p.m. ceremony.

            School officials, elected officials and community leaders, as well as the architects and engineers of the new schools, will be in attendance for both ribbon cutting ceremonies.

            Superintendent Bill Spear said both schools will open to students on the first day of classes on Aug. 6.  Teachers and school staff will return to the schools earlier that week for staff development sessions and final preparations of the classrooms.

            Kathryn Blackwell, principal of Juban Parc Elementary, said all guests at the elementary school will be provided with a map of the campus for a self-guided tour immediately following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and teachers will be on hand to answer questions.

            No tours or free access to Juban Parc Junior High School will be available that day.  Parents wishing to visit that school should contact the main office during regular work hours to set up an appointment.
